National seashore beaches wellfleet1/9/2024 ![]() I haven't been there in ten years, I miss it. Bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and the west by Cape Cod Bay, 61 of the land area of Wellfleet is in the Cape Cod National Seashore Park. The beach gets its name from the Italian inventor, Guglielmo Marconi. Nauset Light Beach: OPEN to leashed pets Right of beach access (south). CLOSED to pets to the right of beach access. Coast Guard Beach: OPEN to leashed pets to the LEFT of beach access. The memories of the surf, sand, tides, water, and friends live on in my mind, where they will always be. Marconi Beach is a National Seashore beach in Wellfleet, a small town on Cape Cod. This page will be updated when the status of pets on the six national seashore-managed beaches changes. Play It Safe We want you to have both a safe and enjoyable experience walking the trails at Cape Cod. The principal beaches, in terms of parking, facilities, and so on are: Nauset Light Beach, Coast Guard Beach, and Marconi Beach in the Eastham/Wellfleet area. The stairs were placed on the flat land beside the house in the winter. In addition to miles of beaches that provide a wonderful walking environment, there are 11 walking trails at the seashore that are open year-round. My friends stairs had a history of washing away, until after a few seasons of rebuilding them, they bought aluminun light weight steps that lasted for years. Travel 5 things to do when visiting Wellfleet From eating to hiking to relaxing near the harbor, Wellfleet has it all. Indian Neck Beach, the part I was from didn't have those high cliff dunes, it had relatively smaller dunes, mostly fitted with stairs to climb up from the beach. I remember being in all the cottages along the beach, the summer "complaints" were the greatest people, so open and fun loving, they made a child feel like the world was a haven for laughter and feeling good. There are two types of beaches in Wellfleet: public beaches managed by the town, and those managed by the Cape Cod National Seashore. ![]() In the early mornings I would burst out of the cottage, run to the farest out sandbar, turn and admire the cottages that dotted the beach here and there. ![]() ![]() We rented a house in Truro last yr in June and probably five or six were surfing in waves astone’s throw from our chairs!when my sisters and I went into the water( almost no one else there) the seals remained almost beside us! They were not afraid at all! We go out to Cape Cod several times a year for over 50 plus years now, all seasons and different times.we love the Cape so much!!!! If you go to Nauset or Coast Guard Beach in Eastham or Marconi Beach( definitely stop and see the “White Swamp” tucked to left of beach road if you go there! Amazing to see and “Marconi Station!” You will love the “WHITE CEDAR SWAMP”.Indian Neck was a summer home for over 21 years, adulthood, making a living, robbed me of a longer stay. This includes Coast Guard Beach and Nauset Light Beach in Eastham, Marconi Beach in Wellfleet and Head of the Meadow Beach in Truro and Race Point and Herring. They seemed to come out in droves around five pm when each was more deserted but they were still there mid-day, too! We saw them at Marconi Station in Wellfleet ( lots), as well. (Thats what I want to do anyway - not sure daughter has an opinion. ![]() It will be me and 20 y/o daughter, and I think were going to mainly want to go to the National Seashore beaches. Just about “all the beaches at the “National Seashore have great viewing”, for seals! I have observed them at “all the beaches from Chatham to P’town!” Honestly, the more crowded the beaches are( especially during high season) the less chance of seeing seals but no matter how busy it is you are still bound to catch a glimpse or two of seals bobbing in the ocean waves( so fun to watch)! Chatham( near the lighthouse) has the most and if you go around five or six pm you are bound to see lots, in particular! Just stand up in parking lot, looking down and you will see them! Nauset Beach & Coast Guard Beach, at the National Seashore in Eastham had the most! They were swimming right beside my son surfing, not afraid at all. 15 reviews 29 helpful votes Wellfleet, Eastham, or Truro in August for 3 nights 5 years ago Save Im looking mostly at Eastham and Wellfleet, maybe Truro. ![]()
